Conservative Trope Examples

  • The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) | Women Spied on via Hidden Camera
Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) points to a teddy bear in his child's room and tells his wife there is a hidden camera inside of it after she sensually exposed herself with her legs wide open and no underwear on, but then tells him she isn't going to be intimate with him for "a very, very, very long time."
  • Disturbia (2007)
Kale (Shia LaBeouf) ogles his next-door neighbor Ashley (Sarah Roemer) with binoculars as she changes in her room and goes for a swim where the camera zooms in on her adjusting her bikini bottom as she gets out of her pool. In a later scene, they do the same thing again where Shia takes turns watching with his friend as the camera slow pans on her body as she hops in the pool.
  • The Girl Next Door (2004)
Matthew (Emile Hirsch) spies on his new next door neighbor Danielle (Elisha Cuthbert) as she changes in her bedroom. He gets caught and looks worried as she leaves and rings his doorbell to "confront" him. Turns out, she just takes him for a joyride and gets payback by having him strip for her.
  • American Pie (1999) | Women Spied on via Hidden Camera
Jim (Jason Biggs) tricks a foreign exchange student Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) into changing her clothes alone in his bedroom while secretly streaming it over the Internet so he and his friends can watch together. The entire school gets the streaming link by mistake and several students are shown making crude comments and cheering along as Nadia takes off her clothes, lays topless in Jim's bed, finds one of his nude magazines and inexplicably starts pleasuring herself. Jim then enters his bedroom with a cheesy line asking if she needs a hand and -- wouldn't you know -- she apparently does, but first Jim has to do a striptease dance for her. Jim is depicted as super awkward and terrible with women throughout the movie while Nadia is one of the most desired girls in class. But she is ready to have sex despite barely knowing him. After all is said and done, he ends up blowing it with Nadia and she gets sent back to Czechoslovakia. Of course, nobody else gets in trouble for it.
  • There's Something About Mary (1998)
Healy (Matt Dillon) spies on Mary (Cameron Diaz) changing in her bedroom, and as she takes off her shirt, he switches to oversized binoculars to get the "money shot" but ends up spying her older roommate topless instead.
  • Die Hard (1988)
John McClane is in an under construction section of the building after it becomes under attack by terrorists saying to himself, “think! think!”, and the camera pans to him watching a scantily clad woman shown in her apartment across the way for a couple seconds.
    Staff Aside
Totally out of the blue and completely unneeded.
  • Porky's (1981)
Tommy (Wyatt Knight), Billy (Mark Herrier) and Pee Wee (Dan Monahan) spy on a group of high school girls showering through holes drilled in the wall. The girls have no idea they are being watched until Pee Wee, frustrated that his peephole keeps getting blocked by a heavyset girl, crudely yells for her to get out of the way so he can watch the other girls. The girls quickly cover themselves with towels, but instead of going to get a faculty member they tease and flirt with the guys. Tommy takes it a dramatic step further and puts his privates through one of the holes, but unbeknownst to him Coach Beulah Balbricker walks in and the girls all run away. The other boys don't let Tommy know the teacher is there, so he is left exposed when she firmly grabs his privates as he shrieks in pain.
  • Animal House (1978)
John Belushi climbs a ladder at a sorority house at night and spies on several half naked women having a pillow fight before moving to a second window where school cheerleader Mandy Pepperidge is slowly undressing alone. As she takes off her bra, Belushi smirks and does the "raised double eyebrows" directly into the camera, breaking the fourth wall for laughs as if the audience is enjoying it along with him. Mandy undresses and touches her skin in such a suggestive manner that John Belushi faints and crashes backwards to the ground in a scene that lasted an entire 47 seconds.
    Staff Aside
47 seconds is more than twice the time the CDC recommends to wash your hands to combat viruses like Covid-19
